Why Self-Isolation is Necessary even Post Corona Lockdown
The History of Corona Virus:
The COVID-19, Novel Coronavirus
originated in December 2019 in the Hubei province of China, due to a mutation
from the original coronavirus, which is found in the gut of bats. After this
the deadly virus took only three months to attain its position as the worst
pandemics in the history of mankind.
Corona, a Recurrence of Spanish Flu?
The COVID-19 is often being
compared by the masses to perhaps its 100-year-old foster cousin,” The
Spanish-Flu of 1918”. Though a completely different virus from the COVID-19,
the latter has been successful in creating panic and anxiety among the masses
with almost equal tenacity, not to mention its fangs having engulfed 16000
lives globally.
Where Italy failed:
Italy ranked the second-best in
healthcare worldwide has already lost more than 6500 of its’ citizens into the
dark reels of the virus. The virus in this perspective has proved to be
completely unbiased and has not differentiated amongst the developed and
under-developed nations or amongst the creamy and the underprivileged.
Are Indians Dealing it right?
Turning to India, most of the
societies have refused entry of hospital para-medical staff and nurses into
their vicinity. Just imagine how you would feel if you come back home after a
hard day’s work at the hospital, keeping your own personal health at stake,
only to find an agitated house/PG owner prepared to practically throw you away?
Is this what our so-called ‘sanskar’ and highly appreciated ‘Indian values’
taught us? Or are human beings paving their ways to self-cannibalistic
tendencies?
How Isolation Helped Us:
Coming back to the isolation part, which most
of the countries have deemed fit to be the only way to prevent this virus from
creating havoc, we try and contemplate the different ways in which we can keep
our minds stabilized during this time of mass Coventry, which after all is for
our own benefit.
We as sensible beings should consider this to be a time which can be put into enormous use by self-introspection and retrospection, an almost negligible pollution-free air outside our homes should be used for meditation and yoga. A break from our mundane work routines could be used to spend quality time with our families.
Concluding Thoughts:
We as a nation should practice
this isolation with utmost diligence for our own personal good, even if we
aren’t altruistic enough to practice one for the nation.
